Meet the Owner
Hello! I'm Matt Burnett, owner of Allegiant Canine headquartered in Spring Hill, TN. I started Allegiant Canine Coaching as a response to what I was seeing in the industry: oversimplified, heavy-handed, and highly expensive training that left dogs worse off and the owners, frustrated and confused. For training to be effective, I believe it must at some point be done alongside the owner, in the environment that the bad behavior manifests, and with enough consistency to create what we're all looking for: PREDICTABILITY.
By teaching human clients the basics of dog communication and psychology, we can give them the master key to unlock the mystery of behavior. My ultimate goal is off leash independence with no tools, which means that the dog and owners enjoy a fun, free life together and that the dog is incorporated into as many aspects of life as they're able! We want to claim that they're part of the family, but we're doomed to having them trapped in a crate forever - that's not a life! What I am ultimately trying to provide for clients and their canine comrades is -
PEACE.

By breaking our proven training system into bite-size pieces, we simplify and rehearse the training exercises and real-life training opportunities with the owner. This creates a mindset in the dog that says "You are everything to me." Over the last couple of years, we've made a lot of subtle changes, so if you trained with us 2-3 years ago, we're already a dramatically different program, prioritizing agency and creativity in the dog and independence and curiosity in the owner as well! I love when my client family reaches out with questions, but they have to be able to try and fail on their own. This is something that I don't insulate for in the end because I want every client to have the one characteristic that most trainers don't consider. It's the one thing that will carry them through a lifetime of awesomeness: PRIDE.

When we take away someone's ability to fail on their own, we are essentially saying "you're too dumb or dangerous on your own to do this properly." That's just not true, and it's really not helpful. There are some simple characteristics of dogs that make them the natural companion of humankind, and if they don't come naturally to you, we can help. By changing your mindset, methods, and muscle memory, we can make you independent, ready to let you "off leash" in the world! I love all my clients, and I am super grateful to be given the opportunity to do what I love and to get paid for it! I have been training for 6 years professionally, full-time, and I am looking forward to helping you master these simple fundamentals to get the most out of your dog, to give them their best life, so that you can enjoy a long life together!
